Fellowship Project: Blog Posting After you watch the video and read the study notes below, answer these questions here: Discuss: o Discuss how important it is to Father God and Jesus to emphasize the kingdom of God. 1. Matthew 6:33 says that if we focus on God's kingdom and His righteousness, our needs will be met abundantly. Why is it important to understand this?
2. The Jewish leaders expected the Messiah to set up a physical kingdom. Discuss the kingdom of God as a spiritual kingdom and how that impacts
our lives.
3. How has the overemphasis on particular topics, such as healing and prosperity, robbed the body of Christ? What should we be focusing on above all else?
4. Based on this study, briefly discuss what the Scripture teaches about the unfolding of the end times. Why must we have a proper perspective of God's
kingdom?
5. Daniel 12:3 states that God's wise ones will shine brightly, even though our world is growing darker. What are we called to do to bring this to pass? What supernatural help do we have to aid us?
After the sufferings of His cross, Jesus appeared alive many times to these same apostles over a forty-day period. Jesus proved to them with many convincing signs that He had been resurrected. During these encounters, He taught them the truths of God's kingdom realm.
—Acts 1:3 TPT
DISCUSSION:
Many times I wanted the Lord to teach me about specific subjects so that I could understand. Once, I asked Him to teach me about His kingdom because I realized there was authority in teaching about the kingdom. This is what we will discuss in today's study.
When I worked at Southwest Airlines, I studied between flights and on overnights, continuously asking God to teach me about the kingdom. As I studied, it was amazing how I noticed how important it was to Father God that Jesus taught on the kingdom; He taught quite a bit on this subject.
THE KINGDOM IS A VERY IMPORTANT SUBJECT
Think about the reality that after Jesus rose from the dead, Acts 1:3 says that He was seen teaching in Jerusalem for 40 days. In the first and second chapters of the Book of Acts, we read about Jesus ascending and the Holy Spirit coming; however, if you look at the ministry of Jesus during those 40 days, He taught about the kingdom of God. I'm amazed that out of all the things that Jesus could have taught, He chose the kingdom throughout His last 40 days.
It was essential to the Father and Jesus to teach about the kingdom when many thought Jesus was supposed to be gone. Jesus died, was buried, went to the center of the earth, came back up, and then was supposed to ascend on high, yet God gave Him 40 more days on earth. Jesus asked me what I would do if I had 40 extra days of ministry that I normally wouldn't have had. He chose the kingdom as a subject, which should be a notation and a highlight to you.
There should be fireworks going off, causing you to think the kingdom of God must be a significant subject if Jesus chose that above anything else He could have taught. He did not teach on faith, deliverance, healing, or prosperity. He didn't teach about the things we sometimes want to emphasize; He chose to teach about authority or kingdom. Jesus is kingdom minded. One thing I noticed in Heaven that I didn't notice on earth is the emphasis on God's role in His kingdom. The focus is on that, and you can feel it there.
o Discuss how important it is to Father God and Jesus to emphasize the kingdom of God.
THE KINGDOM IN PARADISE
In Heaven, there is a place called Paradise that is like the Garden of Eden. It seems like it was the Garden of Eden, but it wasn't told to me. When I was there, I saw the River of Life flowing, and it was the most amazing place I have ever been. People were sitting in the grass, fellowshipping there. There were families and various activities; people were hanging out together, enjoying each other, and having fun. I saw Jesus playing games with children, such as hide-and-seek and treasure hunt.
As I observed Paradise, I recognized that there was a feeling of the kingdom and authority there. It wasn't what you would think; the atmosphere there was different. It was so lovely, like a huge park that would make you want to go to the lake or the beach to enjoy its beauty. Its splendor seemed to go on forever, yet I could feel the kingdom there.
In Heaven, no matter where I went, there was a feeling of the kingdom. I went to offices that seemed like a headquarters building or a command center, where there was great authority. I realized that we don't emphasize the kingdom enough down here. Jesus said if you were given an extra 40 days, so to speak, then it should be in your mind to teach on the kingdom as much as possible.
BEING LED BY THE SPIRIT
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.
—Matthew 4:1-2
Jesus shared a profound revelation with me that I didn't understand at all until then. When I asked Him why He chose the kingdom, He said that it was the subject the Father emphasized to Him. He continued sharing that the Father had remembered the 40 days when Jesus was in the desert fasting and being tempted by the devil. You must remember that the Spirit led Jesus into the desert to be tempted by the devil; Matthew 4:1-2 literally says that. This doesn't make sense to many, especially with some doctrines today over-emphasizing certain things, such as the word of faith, the healing, and the different charismatic movements.
The whole idea here is being led by the Spirit, which means you might not see a mountain removed. You might have to go around it, over it, or through it, which sometimes causes hardship and persecution. It's not taught enough that you can encounter brokenness and suffer for doing what is right. You can follow God in His perfect will and end up like Jesus in the desert, tempted by the devil. When have you heard this kind of message?
Jesus explained that because He submitted to the leading of the Holy Spirit and went through that temptation for everyone else, God rewarded Him with 40 more days of ministry. He had submitted to the Father and was tempted by the devil. Jesus told me to tell all the ministers, "For every day that you are tempted and tested by the devil, God will repay you with a powerful day of ministry in the Spirit." As Christians, we are all ministers who are all anointed to preach and tell people the good news. So think of all the years you've endured hardships and overcome temptation.
PURSUE GOD'S KINGDOM, AND HE WILL MEET YOUR NEEDS
We are all in the ministry, not just certain people, even though we have a fivefold ministry of the church, comprised of apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, and evangelists (Ephesians 4:11-13). Those have their role, but the entire body of Christ is very powerful on earth. I'm telling you this because Jesus said that the Father would repay you with a powerful day of ministry for every day you're tempted and tried by the devil. Like Jesus, we should use those days to teach the kingdom. Jesus expressed that since He taught on this subject, He wants you to teach on this subject often because it is so important.
So above all, constantly chase after the realm of God's kingdom and the righteousness that proceeds from Him. Then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly.
—Matthew 6:33 TPT
In Heaven, I saw that we're in a deficit in this dispensation of time because we have overemphasized certain things and have not paid attention to other important subjects that the Father and Jesus did. Jesus urged us in Matthew 6:33 to constantly chase after the realm of God's kingdom above all. Note that He says, "above all." We are supposed to pursue and chase after God's kingdom above all and the righteousness that proceeds from Him, then all these other less essential things that you need or want will be given to you as well; Just focus your emphasis on God and His kingdom. When you look to Jesus and His kingdom, He says everything else will come to you. This is what needs to be preached.
